Yeah. I unfollowed half of those that I followed. Now I am having a panic attack over how they feel. I don't care if they unfollowed me, I'm not that interesting anyways, but I feel I had to for various reasons. Hopefully they can understand that.
I did the same thing some time ago. I had a public feed and followed people but as I got to know people I decided who I'd rather focus on and who I was tired of seeing twitter spam from. I unfollowed a bunch, but then decided I wanted even more control over my account, so I made a new one that was private. Honestly, it made my twitter experience much nicer. A smaller group to follow and get to know. ^^
Yep. Following so many is some how a stress. I feel better cutting it down. I left only those that I really talk to and have formed slight friendships (on my side anyways) with.
if they're upset at being unfollowed on twitter, they probably weren't worth following in the first place. your twitter is yours, and it should be a place that you feel comfortable in.
I'mm sure they'll be okay. Following on Twitter seems to be a lot more casual than following/friending elsewhere. It's also pretty hard to tell who has unfollowed you on there, unless you're only following a handful of accounts (and most people aren't).
There's also a list feature on twitter, so you can make a list of accounts for instance, of people you know personally, then when you click on that it only shows you the feed of their posts. It's a bit of a pain but it can work if you don't want to unfollow people but don't want to see their posts. I guess it would've been more helpful if I remembered that before you did the cut, but it slipped my mind >_
Interesting, I didn't know you could do that. I will have to try to remember that if things get out of control there again. I like it now that I have just people I want to talk to or keep track of now.
