I've been toying with some digital drawings and participate in twitter's #WreckNRule art challenge.
Ka-Pow! One of my Christmas gifts this past year was the first volume of One-Punch man (maybe someday someone will pay to do another volume). One Punch Man is a parody of a lot of superhero anime and mangas, so the manga and the anime both have a lot of fun styles that I hope to draw in the future.
I'm still playing with working with digital media. The app I use is called Procreate. It's a pretty nice drawing app. It works a lot like photoshop and has a lot of options for modifying images.
I'm subscribed to an art site called SVS (Society of Visual Storytelling) (svslearn.com). One of the video classes is a great beginning class for using Procreate. I've learned a lot from that class that I didn't know about and I'm excited to try using. Thinks like turning down the opacity of a sketch to draw strongly over. It makes it easy to see the foundation sketches and the newer lines. Usually, I've changed color and draw on a new layer until I have everything the way I want it. I've also learned how to use the selection tools (I'm a dork and wasn't able to figure it out on my own). So now I can select specific areas and move or resize them, rather than attempting to draw over and over when I already have a shape I like.
It's also giving me new ways to practice with color shading and backgrounds. Adjusting the opacity and using different blurs have made things nicer looking, I think.

With this new knowledge, I am working on a small two-page comic for my husband. He has some great ideas for comics and pieces. I'm excited to finally be brave enough to give it a shot. The first page is almost done, but it's been the easy part as it's a single scene. Once I add a few more things and figure out how to best add text, I'll move to the second page. That one will be a new challenge of learning how to make and work within comic panels. But... Enjoy what I have so far.

Finally, this week on Twitter is the #WrecknRule. A prompt week of Transformers Wreckers. So here are some of my drawings I did for the event.
Day 1: Marvel inspired Wreckers. Don't know much about them as it was way before my time in the fandom. Broadside looked like he would be fun to draw though. All the references I found of him had him holding both an ax and a gun. Dude like all forms of battle. I always want to play more with inks. I started this guy right before going to the laundromat. I decided to use hatching as shading. Its a slower process, but I really like the effect it can have.

Day 2: Impactor, the longest surviving leader of the Wreckers. This guy was fun to draw because he's so cranky all the time. And the harpoon hand, fun times. Again I desided to use some hatching to work out the shapes and shadows.

Day 3 was based on the Last Stand comics in IDW. I decided to do Verity. I haven't done people for a while. She was a challenge in that sense. I do need to practice my humans more. I think I'm the most unhappy with this one. Anatomy is hard now. I've had to adjust to drawing large robots, who have two shoulders pretty much, that I'm having a hard time drawing a human body and face.

Day 4 I opted out of due to illness. I did spend my day resting and finishing some videos around using Procreate. I did work in that a little that evening trying to mimic the technique the teacher used in the video. I kind of had a growth moment in that. In the past, I would have watched a video of someone working and get really discouraged and tear myself down. Finally, FINALLY, my brain was able to watch someone work and think "I really like what they are doing. I bet if I try and practice I could get a nice feel like they have in their image" Yay! Mental growth. I have to try and keep that mindset up next time I get down. A person on Twitter also added some advice along these lines. "They (good artists) were at my level once, so I will be at theirs sometime." I need to keep these thoughts in mind and keep working on my art. I mostly do it for the fun of it anyways. Why make it more stressful than it needs to be?
Day 5 Overlord. The big bady of Last Stand. I asked for help with this one where I was still recovering from my sick. To keep it simple I wanted to do a headshot and asked for an expression. My other half suggested since Overlord is usually depicted as being more on the happy side, that I draw him scowling. It was a fun challenge since most references were of him having a smile on his face. He really was a happy mech. Since I was going for a super serious face I decided to do a lot of heavy ink, going for a darker look.

I always have a hard time with lots of ink. I feel like I loose details when using too much ink. But I really love the effect and admire artists that are able to pull it off. It is something I really should do more of a study on.
There are two more days in the week event. Day 6 is Nome Wreckers or Sins of the Wreckers. Day 7 is Villians. I have an idea of who I'm doing on day 7, but not sure about day 6. I don't know if I want to focus on someone for Sins or some other division of the Wreckers. B has recently gotten an Optimal Primal toy. He was part of the Wreckers, maybe I will do him. I'm just not sure.
